Audio Visual Systems for Churches - 'People shaped PA'

Modern worship demands flexibility and increasingly churches are using sound and projection systems to get their message across. APi Communications has been working in the church sector for many years. We take time to establish a rapport with those who will be the users to design and install a bespoke system that meets their requirements and budget. Once a system is installed, we will ensure that training takes place. Our abiding design principles are:

Ease of use - by selecting the equipment and designing the system carefully to suit the abilities of those tasked to use it.

Reliability -  by using our experience to select the appropriate level of equipment, and installing with care to build in longevity.

Training - to make sure that users are confident, and the benefits of the system are delivered. This normally happens on the end of smaller installations, or in two sessions for larger projects, with plenty of time for hands on and questions.

Further information can be found on our church sound system website at: www.churchsoundsystems.co

Systems may include:

  • Sound Reinforcement - to enable the spoken word and music to be heard clearly throughout the building.
  • Projection Systems - Show your congregation words, pictures or video and help bring your message to life.
  • Distributed AV Systems - Enabling sounds and pictures to be relayed into overspill rooms, e.g. halls and creche facilities.
  • Induction Loop Systems - We are expert installers of induction loop systems, enabling the hard of hearing to listen directly to the sound systems, without background noise.
  • Camera systems, video and audio recording for distribution via CD/DVD or Web. (You Tube etc)
  • Flat screen digital signs to communicate 'What's On'

We are accustomed to working in historic buildings, and considering the aesthetics, so we will provide as  unobtrusive an installation as possible.

For more information about installing a sound system, the Church of England have put together a checklist which you may find useful. Click Here to see their factsheet.

Installing a Sound System

Wesley's Chapel London

Spot the loudspeakers hidden in the light fittings? In this instance we had to design a system to pay the cable out when the lights were lowered for maintenance and automatically winding the cable back up afterwards. We have just completed a twin camera recording system which allows the video and audio recording of services and posting to the web.

Mint Methodist Church Exeter

Dual screen projection, a comprehensive sound reinforcement system and Audio/Video distribution over cat5 cabling, throughout the complex, enables worship to be partaken in many adjacent locations. Dual camera operation now means that the congregation may enjoy the worship by viewing the recorded events.

St Marys Uffculme Devon

This very decorative parish church required careful consideration to cable routes and projector position. Three radio microphones are installed and projection and sound racks are both discreetly located so as to minimise the impact on the aesthetics of this lovely old church.

All Saints Church Sidmouth

All Saints Church underwent a major refurbishment during 2010 and APi were pleased to work with the Architects and Electricians to ensure a most impressive result. A dedicated sound and vision desk was created and all signals routed throughout the church and adjacent buildings. A triple projection array ensures a 180 degree view for both transept, and nave worshippers.

Careful consideration was needed here to avoid masking the impressive organ and so projector and screen were skewed to facilitate maximum viewing for the congregation. A new sound desk was created with a particularly low-profile mixer selected to assist the operator and to conserve space.
