APi Communications Make an Exhibition of Themselves!
APi Communications recently exhibited at the Christian Resources Exhibition at Westpoint, near Exeter. The 2 day event, considered to be the ‘Ideal Church Show’ comprised of stands, seminars and events and attracted visitors from the whole of the south west and further afield.
The exhibition enabled APi Communications to showcase a variety of audio visual equipment, which are frequently use in installations. Some of our engineers were on hand to provide advice and discuss audio visual installations with visitors to the show. We also had on display images of recent installations and of particular interest was a video showing a retractable screen, which APi Communications recently installed at Emmanuel Church, Plymouth.
The event proved worthwhile and it was a pleasure to meet some of our previous customers, as well as customers of the future.

Emmanuel Church of England church, in Mannamead, Plymouth, is a forward looking centre of worship within its community. For some years they have been using temporary projection screens to assist the congregation and when it was decided to make these into a permanent feature APi Communications were invited to submit a quotation as some strict criteria were being applied in this large mid-Victorian church.

Bygones of Babbacombe are a leading Torquay tourist attraction and for their winter season they chose APi Communications to assist with their creation of "Christmas in a Victorian street" scene. Amongst the authentic looking shops a christmas tree was erected onto which a snow machine propelled a blizzard, whilst carol singers could be heard singing a selection of festive favourites. Further background sound fills were used to create an ambience Charles Dickens would surely recognise!
Torquay's St John the Evangelist Church had discontinued it's bell broadcast system as the area residents had complained of the poor quality sound it reproduced. So whilst attending to the church hearing loop system, we assessed the performance of the bell public address and suggested how it could be improved. Our recommendations were approved and so we assembled a frame within the tower and about 20 feet above the old bell, onto which we mounted three public address loudspeakers. These are configured so as to project the sound through decorative features above the original bell louvres and so project the sound out over both Torquay town and the harbour. We chose to use only three drive units as the residents live close to one side of the tower and so this side is muted. The reproduction is now clear and bright, giving a most realistic impression that there is a full carillon within the tower (though it is in fact a cd and any style of ring may be chosen!).
APi communications worked with Museum interpretation experts 'Imagemakers' to provide a touch screen information kiosk for visitors looking to explore the long history, and current day use, of St. James Priory. This must surely be one of the most historic religious buildings hidden away in the commercial centre of Bristol.
