May News - New Rehearsal Room at Devon School.
Colyton Grammar School, one of the country's leading state schools, recently completed construction of their new music tuition building and APi Communications were pleased to win the contract to install a concealed projector, sound system and recording facilities for both the 'main' and a secondary rehearsal suites. The projector was fitted with a long-throw lens and then installed within the ceiling of an adjacent store cupboard whilst the 3M screen was dismantled and re-engineered to ensure a practical concealment for the mountings. A mobile cabinet houses all audio amplification and a Prosonus 8 channel mixer couples to an Applemac, via firewire conections, where software performs the recording function.Incidentally, the sound engineering experience from APi Communications has been employed by many churches. To assist them in grappling with some of the complexities involved we have created a dedicated website and this went live at the start of May.

Devon Churches at County show.
APi Communications were pleased to "Do their bit" by re-inforcing the sound in the performance tent provided by the 'Churches of Devon', at the Devon County Show.
In return we were pleased to be given the opportunity to demonstrate our Brightsign Displays by creating two sample displays illustrating some of our recent projects. Maybe you were there, maybe you saw us!
If you did and have formed an opinion on what you saw then why not drop us a mail? We are always pleased to receive feedback of any nature and in any form!

We visit the Cathedral Church in Plymouth.
The Cathedral Church of St. Mary and St. Boniface is the seat of the Bishop of Plymouth and APi Communications were pleased to be asked to install a hearing loop system, into the library of the Bishops House, during May. This room is particularly high-profile as it is a main diocesan meeting chamber and thus we devoted considerable care to the concealment of the equipment. The large circular meeting desk was equipped with four boundary microphones, these being mixed by a miniature unit installed beneath the desk. The audio cable was then concealed beneath the carpet and the amplifier hidden behind the window drapes. Finally we were able to conceal the greater part of the loop itself, either beneath the skirting board, or within the bookshelves. We are pleased to report that our client was very satisfied with the result!
