Church AV Systems Price Guide

[rank_math_breadcrumb]

The value of your congregation being able to see and hear the message you are delivering is invaluable. As much as we would love to help you serve your congregation better through great AV without charging you, we would not be able to help many churches before we realise the flaw in our business model.

So, let’s talk about what it is likely to cost you, as we want to be totally transparent with you. It’s an important question, as you will need to discuss this with the church leadership committee, and you may also want to approach the congregation for help with fundraising.

There are three main factors which will impact the cost of an audio-visual installation in your church or heritage building.

(Last Updated June 2026)

Church size

The bigger your church, the more equipment and cabling you would need. Not only does the cost of the kit increase, but so does the installation cost, as there is more to install.

Intended Use

The more you plan to do with the system, the more flexibility and capacity we will need to design into the system. If you want the very simple user interface which we pride ourselves on offering, then we might have to put some fancy equipment in the background, which takes time to program.

Custom solutions

We are experts in finding ways of installing AV into buildings which were built way before technology was around, and that takes skill, as well as an arsenal of custom products, which take time to design, manufacture and install.

Now that you know the key factors affecting the price of an installation, here are some rough guidelines to give you an idea of the figures you need to consider before continuing on your journey to a new audio-visual system.

System Type

Estimated Price Range inc VAT

Simple speech and occasional music sound system

£7,000 – £11,000

Full band or speech sound system for a large church

£14,000 – £20,000

Projection – standard equipment

£13,000 – £16,000

Projection – custom equipment

£16,000 – £22,000

Visual with multiple displays

£10,000 – £18,000

Single-camera live streaming

£6,000 – £8,000

Multi-camera live streaming

£10,000 – £15,000

Acoustic treatment – modern building

£5,000 – £8,000

Acoustic treatment – large traditional building

Circa £15,000

Hearing loop (standalone installation) *VAT exempt*

£2,000 – £4,000

Specific Pricing:

If you only require a speech and background music system, then depending on the size of your church, you can expect to pay around £7,000 – £11,000.

Churches with a regular requirement for live band reproduction will need to spend between £14,000 – £20,000 to get a system capable of accurate and full-range music.

For an installation using standard equipment, the price would be around £13,000 – £16,000. This figure will increase to between £16,000 and £22,000 when a more complex method of projection screen deployment is required.

Systems using multiple flatscreen displays range massively in price but will be anywhere between £10,000 and £18,000, depending on the number of screens and the complexity of the video distribution to each of them.

A typical live streaming system with one PTZ camera will cost roughly £6,000 – £8,000. This will increase to  £10,000 – £15,000 when additional cameras are added, and if multiple outputs are required to feed the church’s visual system as well as the live stream.

Lots of church buildings have wonderful acoustics for choirs and concerts, but this becomes unhelpful when trying to understand speech. Even with the aid of sound systems, if the church has a large amount of echo, loudspeakers may actually exacerbate rather than resolve the problem.

A typical acoustic panel installation will cost between £5,000 and £8,000, depending on the size of the space and the amount of reverberation. However, for full acoustic treatment of a large church with a high amount of echo, you are looking more towards the £15,000 price point.

We have a short video which explains hearing loops in more detail, including the laws and regulations surrounding them, which you can view here.

Usually, installing an induction loop system is quite quick, provided that the cable route is not littered with too many obstacles. Therefore, the cost of a hearing loop installation would be between £2,000 and £4,000 if done as a standalone installation, rather than part of a wider sound system upgrade.

Fun fact – did you know that hearing loops are exempt from VAT?

I write this on behalf of Grove Methodist Church in Oxfordshire, UK. We are a small church with modest requirements and a limited budget, but API Sound and Visual were happy to work with us. We wanted a new sound system to replace our ageing, sometimes temperamental, and awkward-to-use old system. We found APi helpful, friendly and receptive to our needs. The installation took place smoothly as scheduled, and was completed in the time allotted. (It was a very neat and tidy installation.) Our new sound system now gives us more control and flexibility, and we enjoy an improvement in overall sound quality in the church. I would certainly recommend APi Sound and Visual to anyone who wants similar work doing.

Dear API Team, I am writing to convey my thanks for your excellent support yesterday. You helped us avoid the hassle of shipping our equipment to you by promptly organising a remote "talk-through diagnostic" over the phone. I would like to extend a special thank you to Toby for his patience throughout that process. Thanks to your help, the system is now up and running with no issues at all. Best regards, D Jacobs Churchwarden, St Mary’s

Toby from APi Sound and Visual came to install a replacement Hearing Loop at our Church (Exeter Christadelphian Church) for us. It was a very clean installation, with a good explanation of how it worked, integrated into our existing system. We've used APi before, and will look to do so when we need help upgrading our Audio/Visual equipment.

I have had several dealings with API as part of the installation, and enhancement, of our Audio and Visual system, over the last few years, They have always been really friendly, and their work is very professional and efficient. Jim and Stephen, in particularly, have been extremely understanding and helpful. I would recommend, without reservation, API in anyone who needs such systems.

We have been using our updated AV system for a couple of months now and I am pleased to report the congregation are very happy with the improvements resulting from installing the large screen TV and the additional two loudspeakers. Thank you for working with us to recommend cost effective updates to our systems. Your friendly installation engineers did an excellent neat job of installing the equipment, Maurice Banfield, Chard Baptist Church Fabric Deacon.

Absolutely fantastic work. Everything was well communicated and the team was incredibly accommodating to our requests. They carried out the work professionally, going through each step and even answering some rather ridiculous questions from me. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

API recently installed a large venue projector in our church. The Projector which weighed 22kg was positioned on a side wall at a height of about 4m and required a heavy duty projector mount which they supplied. The team were very professional, proficient and friendly throughout. They carried out the work in a safe manner and cleaned up after themselves very well. They did not leave until they were sure the projector image was set up correctly, taking great care to be sure the image was fully aligned with the screen. We use API for all our audio visual work in the church and they have always been excellent.
